WNHS Medical Library

The Medical Library at King Edward Memorial Hospital provides a high quality library and information service to Women and Newborn Health Service (WNHS) staff to support the WNHS mission, values and goals.

We support informed decision making and evidence-based practice through the provision of information in a variety of formats. Our client services include document delivery and interlibrary loans for material not held in our collection, literature searching, training and support.

Borrowing

WNHS staff and the following associated groups are eligible to borrow from the Medical Library:
  • Women and Infants Research Foundation
  • All members of the KEMH Clinical Staff Association
  • Medical students (5th and 6th year attached to KEMH)
  • Midwifery students enrolled at KEMH, Department of Nursing and Midwifery Education
  • Neonatal nursing students enrolled at KEMH, Department of Nursing and Midwifery Education
  • Other students based at KEMH for a minimum of 4 weeks
  • WA Health Staff working outside WNHS may register as a reciprocal borrower

 

Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loans

WNHS staff can request articles and books not held in our collection.  To use this service, staff must first register with the Medical Library. Go to Forms to print and complete the library registration form or visit the library.

Literature Searches

WNHS staff can request literature searches. Go to Forms to email your request for a literature search.

Purchasing for Departments

All books, journals and other information resources purchased from WNHS funds are to be purchased via the Medical Library. The Library sources and orders all items. Submit a purchase requisition to the Library with the signature of Head of Department, cost centre to be charged and other relevant information.

Training and Support

We provide assistance and training in the use of all our resources. Please contact the Library to discuss your needs.

Women and Newborn Health Library

The Women and Newborn Health Library provides consumer information on women's and newborns' health to patients, their families and carers, health professionals, and the general public. For more information, go to the Women and Newborn Health Library website.
